Riding on the shoulder....

Also known as "Guaranteed to pick up a nail in at least one tire or your money back".

I'd support this legislation - as it would be a baby step to true splitting/filtering, but wouldn't do it personally. I can think of no more dangerous position to ride on the highway.

Maybe a looong line of motorcycles traveling in the fast lane single file at rush hour would show just how privileged we are.---with go pro's to show the anger of the cagers

Nope....fill two lanes in multiple places (I-90, I-5, I-405, etc.) at the same time with a well spaced staggered formation so no cars can squeeze in. Then, after 15 minutes or so, all move to the shoulder (or split) and ride safely away.

Might be interesting if someone let the TV stations know about it happening so that the traffic copters could get a good view of what works and what doesn't...

I've ridden my bicycle (used to race for years) on the shoulders of Roads and Highways for over 30 years. I'm still doing it. I've never felt in danger, except for those few rednecks that think I'm in their way, and love to give me a big honk. I can't even remember the last time I got a flat from picking up a nail on the shoulder. The speeds they're saying are not that much faster than most of us cyclist that ride along the shoulder, and you can easily move around road debris. It's NOT that dangerous to be moving along at 25mph on the shoulder. Sheesh, you may even get passed by a cyclist, they can easily travel faster than 25mph along flat straight roads (I'm not talking about on I-5 in Seattle, but there are roads that are jammed up where cyclist are allowed to be on).

For WSP to say how fatalities would rise, it wouldn't be from poking along the shoulder with grid lock traffic.

There is no downside for the representatives in opposing the bill, motorcyclists are not a big voting block. There is upside in it, allowing to pretend to be "for traffic safety". Bonus points for making it "for the children".

WSP also testified there would be carnage in the streets if the Dead Red bill passed. It passed, still waiting for the carnage.

And don't forget that murder, rape, robbery and prostitution has skyrocketed now that pot is legal. Except that never happened either.

House panel kills measure allowing motorcycles to drive between cars | GJSentinel.com

FYI Colorado's lane splitting bill just failed. Since we have similar pot laws, does that mean our bill is doomed to fail next? (yes, this is sound logic)

Troopers opposed the idea on many fronts, not the least of which was because Colorado drivers just aren’t used to such things, which is known as “lane-splitting.”
The troopers blocking again... How do they expect anything new to pass if nothing is giving a chance?

While WSP may be opposed to this bill, they are not blocking it.
They do not control legislation.

Blocking it can only be done by the Legislature.
In this case, specifically a committee chairman.

May I assume that you are going to schedule a meeting with each of them during the interim (time between sessions) and open a civil dialogue?
