Killed the KTM 1190 adv with a stick!

Cut across the yard with my wife on the back, pulled up the the deck, she gets off "HEY...THE BIKE IS LEAKING FUEL" Me..eye roll.. ya ok, look down ..fuel squirting everywhere, turn bike off, grab LH fuel cock button...comes off in my hand...MUCH more fuel flow now!! Wife gabs crab cooker pot off deck and puts under bike (which I JUST filled up) I run to shop to get empty roto pax gas cans.

Front tire kicked up a 1.5" dia. firewood round the dogs out and it caught the LH fuel cock valve just right (pole vault style) and split it right down the side, soon as I touched the knob it came off for full on flow!
That would be a tough one to fix way out in the stix...the fun never ends!!!
Thanks to Steve Baker of Mt Baker motorsports for hooking me up with a new one Tuesday morning!! Good guy's!!

Good to get it fixed so quickly! Is there a way to protect it for the future adventures?

Steve and I were looking at a floor model trying to figure something out, but not an easy fix. They did say they have never seen it happen before, and the R/H side is located back farther. I do have the Toura Tech upper crash bars also and that did nothing to protect it. If it happened out in the boondocks...you would have a BIG problem cuz it drains ALL the fuel and it would be very hard to impossible to stop the flow and repair in the field!

Wow crazy, that was a good save of a sort. though I can't help wonder, as I haven't heard this name in a long time, if this is the Steve Baker from the good ole racing days from the early 70s. Doubt he would remember me, we hung out, but those where crazy times if it's the same dude..

Don't leave firewood accessible to the dogs.

Which is why i look "special" whenever i take a sharp corner or roundabout in the rain. i would rather look like a noob for 5-10 sec than take the damage (and prolonged embarrassment while i collect bike parts).
