Heated riding gear

Anyone have advice or comments on heated riding gear? I am looking at getting pants and jacket and I'm considering Gerbing and Tour Master synergy 2. Either would probably work fine but all input is appreciated!

  S1000rr and a few others!
I have the Gerbings jacket liner I bought last fall. First heated gear I've had. Works great for me. Decent heat in the arms and it's fairly equal through out the whole jacket. I have the wireless controller for it too. Works great too unless you forget it at home. :-/

I also ordered one size down per their recommendation and it fits me great.

Gerbring used to be good (they got bought out more than once..don't bother with the warranty..they don't) and are strictly "off the shelf" chinese made gear...I've heard some not good stuff about Tourmaster too...I have a Gordon's jacket liner..they're made in the U.S.A. so they cost a pinch more...the rest of my gear is Warm n Safe...they're a Portland (my home town) company and they make..quite simply..the BEST heated gear you can get...I've met and talked a couple of times with the owner of WnS..he's a great guy and is a rider...FirstGear rebrands Warm n Safe gear..so you could buy those...

I have been wearing the same Gerbing jacket for 16 years and it still works as new.

I cannot vouch for the newer stuff. Dont know what I would buy if it ever quits on me but I think that the day will come that I cannot get over room temperature before my jacket does.

I've found that with a heated jacket liner, (and heated gloves), sweat pants on the bottom are sufficient for me. Consider getting the heated jacket liner first and see how it works for you before getting a heated pants liner.

Highly recommend a full jacket liner, rather than a vest, (because arms get cold too).

Warm and Safe offers an 18% discount to AMA members.

Found a good jacket that is battery powered -so it doesn't draw from the bike.
Works quite well, much like a soft shell under my regular riding jacket instead of the liner .
Battery is rechargeable. They have them usually in hunting gear

I have mostly Gerbing stuff (can't remember the pants, but they aren't Gerbing) and so far it works great.

My advice would be, know yourself and buy gear accordingly. Meaning, if you do long rides, don't buy battery powered shit. It doesn't last more than a couple hours.

Also, have enough controllers to make yourself comfortable. If a body part gets colder than the rest, make sure you can control that piece of gear independently.

With my setup, I'm good to the mid 20s. After that I was turning shit up so high to stay warm I was burning myself.

There's currently a pair of Gerbing heated liners on Seattle Craigslist.

I made my heated vest. 50' of #26 stranded wire sewn in the inside of a vest. It's a life saver if you ride when it's really cold.

Great! Thanks for all the replies and info! I looked at the Warm and safe site and it looks pretty good, I really like that they are "American Made" . I still have some questions so I'm going to give them a call. I also like their upgrade program.

That's just as bad as going on a minor shopping trip with your bike because you have a suhweet set of panniers on your ride, and then realize you forgot the key at home... with your hands full

I bought "cycle gear" hot wired jacket liner and controller for $158. Went for a ride today and had to put it on low. It worked great.
