Cycle Gear in Bellingham is Open

I guess the title says it all. I just stopped by and it seems well stocked with very friendly sales guys.

The son of a friend of mine works there but haven't been in yet. I bought a couple things at the Lynnwood store before my big trip last month though and it would have been handy if this store had been open!

Anybody been in to it?

Yeah, good folks in there. They helped the wife and daughter, and we talked MotoGP.

Itís not a bad shop. Itís nice to have an alternative when you arenít looking for super premium products.

The thing is they actually DO have a few of the premium products if you know what you want. They just push the 80% foreign (and often inferior quality) in-house brands that they make the most money on.

I wish Cycle Gear was a good store. I walk out disappointed every time. Up until a few years ago, if I was prepared to deal with 10 miles of stop-start traffic on the freeway, Lamphere's in Beaverton was a great alternative. But their stock gets thinner and thinner as time goes by. Still a good selection of helmets and gear but their consumables shelves are turning bare.

Way back in 1996 I wrote an article for a city newsweekly in which I actually wrote the sentence "[...] but shopping online hasn't really caught on." Little did I know that one day that'd be the only way you could actually f*cking get anything.

I honestly don't understand who is buying all this Bilt and Sedici crap. If they used the same shelf space to have premium brands to try on, I'd shop there all the time. Dealerships' stock is spotty at best.

I dunno, they had almost every Alpinestar boot in stock in my size there.

Hey first post here. Starting riding this summer and am still consuming anything cycle related I can. Anyways, been in once, seemed friendly and helpful, I'm going to find a way to spend some money at this shop.
