OYSTER RUN SUNDAY Sept. 24

Well, I was prodded to post up something for the Oyster Run this weekend seeing as how the other person didn't post...
It's a big shindig. Lots of Milwaukee's finest and a smattering of more interesting rides (Urals, Japanese, Italians, classics, etc). It's worth going to just for the bike building and customizing ideas and off-the-wall bikes.

Officially there's no start or finish but in reality, I think Sunday is the main showing of peeps and most folks are getting out of town by 4 or so.
If the weather is sunny, this is PACKED! We shall see.;)

I might throw a meet up place here if there's anybody interested in riding down about 10:30 or 11.

That was a lot of fun last year. I wish I could make it this year too, but if I do not go to work they will not pay me :(

Where is it?

The Oyster Run is held in Anacortes. To avoid the crowds associated with The Oyster Run, one club always held an ABTOR ride at the same time, (Anywhere But The Oyster Run).

your arm can get worn out with all of the waving to other bikers...even if you don't ride a cruiser it can be very empowering...lol

Post up if y'all want to group ride down. I'm going to plan on going down anyways...

Anyone riding in from Ferndale?

Thumperpilot Sep 23rd 2017 03:46 PM

So some peeps called and I'll told 'em we'll meet up at Starbucks Sehome.
kickstands up @10:45. With the slowest most scenic ride to Anacortes ever on sport bikes!:p

P.s. My buddy called and said he'd counted 9 policia this morning on his way to Shell!

EDIT: LOoked at routes and times, ferries especially, and damn, i don't know if the stress is worth it. Think I might go ABTOR.

I remember a few years ago all the Hogs sitting by the side of the road on that hill just out of town from overheating.

I also remember a sore clutch hand from the parade that leaving town becomes.

I think in and out early is probably a good idea. That, or else bring a valium and take a nap in the park until well after dark.

And the wait for the ferry going back to Port Townsend is loooooong. I remember sitting by the side of the road in the ferry line freezing my ass off for hours waiting for the boat, and then the next one, and then the next one.

Going through the back way from Ferndale on the Kawasexi. Should be a warm day but still going to pack an extra layer.

Recap!

Fun times! Saw some great bikes, crazy bikes, super-duper fast bikes, and a ton of cruisers. 502 Boss Hoss with 550-600 N.A. hp running a 100hp nitrous bottle?!! Suzuki Hyabusa turbo'd with nitrous?!!
GSXR 1000 race bike on nitrous?!!
There were some real diamonds but ya had to lookat 100 others to find them... Fun seeing those that were down there (you know who you are, and frankly, I don't know the screen names for ya)!
That was the biggest showing I think I've seen in the 8+ years I've gone. It'd be interesting if there were actual numbers of people. I'd guess over 40k go on the weekend. It's certainly crazy big for a little town like that...

would you say it was without question the largest crowd ever?

cracking myself up.
