Mr. Blackdog departed prior to Christmas; his two real dogs are scheduling Mr. Blackdog's first appointment upon returning to States, unless, of course, the road goes on forever.

Glad to see you sharing your adventure over here (and that someone let you know about the move). Still following and can't wait for the videos and stories when you get back.

Much has happened in the last few days. While in Chiel I had an exhaust rocker go bad. This is a known issue with the 690's. I did my homework and had a spare with me so I replaced it in the hotel parking lot. Than two days later I lost my rear axle nut and the axle nearly came out. I patched it well enough to limp into a KTM dealer in La Sereana Chile. I'm in Argintina now, it's fall here, the trees are turning color and it's cold and windy. We're 1,500 miles from Ushuaia. These are the hardest miles.

Everything is difficult in centeral and South America. I needed a rear tire, size 140/80-18. I could not find that tire anywhere. I've been using the Pirelli Scorpians and that's what I was looking for. I finally found the right size tire at a KTM dealer but it was a Metzler Sahara (another good tire for this trip) so I'm on Sahara's now. You want ear plugs? Good luck! I've been looking for weeks. Strangely, oil, even 10-60 has not been a problem. And when your doing an oil change in the parking lot you'll have people waiting to take your drain oil to use in their scooters.

Sounds like the bikes take a beating down there. You're running through a considerable amount of tires, it seems. It's a good thing that you're a hands on, can-do kinda guy!

Is Ushuaia your turn around point?

Be careful as you can be. Look forward to seeing you in The Dalles when you get back!

I'll spent 1 day in Ushuaia than head back north to buenos Aires. Dakar Motos in BA is shipping my bike back to the states for me. The tires I mounted should last me the rest of the trip.

Just a quick post to say we crossed over to Tierra dal Fuego yesterday and are in Ushuaia right now. Mission complete! Well, Except for the fact I still have to go 2,000 miles to my shipper. I'm having trouble with photo bucket now but I'll post pictures later. My license plate broke off while on some washboard yesterday, my countershaft seal is leaking and I lost my main keys in the last two days. Let's just see if my exhaust rocker will make it the last leg of the trip.

My compliments and congratulations on achieving your goal. Of course the mission isn't complete until your back home safe and sound, regaling folks at a "Bike Night" about how you had to do battle against lions and tigers, and tigers, and bears, and Howler Monkeys throwing poo. Soooo, stay safe good sir, and God Speed home.

We're in Bueanos Airis right now. We spent yesterday preparing the bikes for shipping home. Since my tank is translucent they could see I had a small amount of fuel left so I had to drain it. Also had to let the air out of the tires and disconnect the battery. I'm be in the states tomorrow!
