New V-strom, ready for Adventure!

I bought a new (to me) 2006 DL1000 V-strom to replace my SV1000, which will be FS soon. Looking forward to some longer distance adventure runs this summer. It needs some work, but got a good deal.

Congrats on the bike!
Hey! Looks like you could use a seat! Hmmm, you know what? I just happen to have both a VStrom 1000 seat that is virtually new and a VStrom 650 seat nearly new as well! The 650 seat is about an inch lower but has more of a dish to it. Let me make you such a deal!

Congrats! Stromtrooper.com is a great reference site. I've read that clutch and headlight relay mods are the way to go.

Congrats on the "new to you" bike. Plenty of time to get it in shape for upcoming "nice weather" adventure riding season, although your V-strom is a good all-season bike.

Very nice!

One of the best used bike values out there.

Soon you will want to replace the front wheel with an SV650 wheel.

Don't bother.

Nice bike! I'd steer clear of the whole headlight relay thing. I had it on my SV for a few months and removed them because they were not reliable.

It's a known issue with the vstroms. The stock wiring routes the head light power through the flimsy starter switch. Many vstrom owners have been stranded because of it. Eastern Beaver sells a nifty plug and play kit.

Dang it! You beat me to it. I have a 2006 DL1000 seat taking up space in my garage, I was going to offer it to Pete for shipping cost.

If anyone needs a stock DL1000 seat let me know. If you can wait until the weather is good, I might be convinced to deliver or meet you halfway for the price of dinner!

Just wanted to let everyone know the seat has been snatched up.

Here is a pic of my new bar set up. Some KTM tapered alloy bars on 3.5" Rox risers bring the bars up about 1.5", which helps tall guys like me. New seat visible in background, thanks Dusty!
