Move over BMW-GS! A Harley could be your next ADV bike!

Harley is near the bottom of my ADV dream bikes, but here's a concept bike that the motor company is gently nudging into the ADV waters.
It looks retro Hans Muth in design (a la Katana style) and was first seen this week at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2016.

I actually kind of like that, but I did own a couple original Katanas.

Katanas

I still have a relative of the Katana though it's not nearly as cool! BMW just might have been trying to take a dig at Suzuki for Hans Muth having left BMW and gone to work for Suzuki (and designing the Katana by stealing their GS from Suzuki's moniker. I don't know but it is a curious thing."Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery."

They've been down that road before.

Harley does know how to master ugly in ADV bike design. At least they're getting better at it with this model...

It has two things going against it if it's going to sell in the States. A typical HD rider will probably not even look at it, and ones that are looking for an adventure bike will find a maker with well established roots in the segment.

BMW has nothing to worry about. This is the HD dual sport/ADV bike I'm lusting for:

I am scared to admit to kinda like it. Looks like the first ever rideable Harley. Needs some blood-red paint splashes over logos, and a few bullethole decals.
