Exclamation MASSIVE Parks Fee increase!

Ya, the politician parasitic leeches are looking to suck up to 3x the money (from current fees) for a day in the National Parks or to ride through them!

$50 per day per motorcycle!

National park fees could nearly triple during peak season | OregonLive.com

Good thing we are about to have a massive starving of the Federal government's revenues when we are already deep in debt and have to triple rates just to maintain parks. We are borrowing money from the Chinese at the same time we are going to give tax relief ($1.5 trillion) to our struggling billionaires. MAGA BABY!

That increase is BS. They also said that an annual pass is still $80.00. WTF. I don't have to worry about it, I have a lifetime pass, but families, and singles wanting to enjoy the parks are going to suffer.

I was wondering about that. I was imagining that it was going to be something like $160 if this goes through. WTF is right, but I'll take it if it stays at $80.

The best part of the screwjob is two motorcyclists would pay $100, but a van full of people pay only $70.

If you thinks that stinks on ice, please go here and submit your comments.

Their own numbers guess at a 34 percent increase in revenue after doubling fees indicates that they anticipate a significant reduction in visitership.

Maybe that is the real goal?

Trump's proposed budget would cut $272 million from the National Park Service. This fee increase would raise $70 million. Users will pay more and the parks will be even deeper in the hole.

Elections have consequences, apparently.

Then they can make the claim nobody uses it and it should be used for resource extraction or sold to concessionairs. Everything is a commodity and must pay its way. An ugly glimpse of the future.

Our national treasures are pretty much priced out of the average person's budget.

Think this is pretty much the agenda. Drive down the use/value of public property and then privatize it at firesale prices.
Similar agenda has been active against the Post Office for at least 15 years...

What's wrong with making people who use the parks pay for it, instead of making people who don't use parks pay for those who do?

The pristine wilderness will still be there, it doesn't need much upkeep. Because it's wilderness.

For the same reason most sane communities don't provide fire protection services to only those who can afford to pay a fee. Or for providing universal healthcare. Oh, yeah. I forgot what country we are living in.

Some costs shouldn't be borne by individuals alone when it is a commons and we all benefit. As stated, this is just about the mentality of a small group of privileged assholes who want to use government for their personal enrichment and fuck what the average working person wants or needs.

The national park system is more popular than ever. Making it a pay as you go user fee denies it to a huge percentage of the population. And somehow I don't see many of the Trump crew, whose agenda is building walls and bombs and whose recreation is playing golf at exclusive clubs, going on big game safaries or yachting, paying to go to our parks, even though they are the class who will soon be most able to afford it.

Now, if only they could pass that land into some developer's hands to make a golf resort or big game private hunting club, then they would prick up their ears.

what it needs is to be LTFA.

I support anything that keeps cars out of wild places. the reality of the situation is that those who hike into wild places do little damage and tend to be good stewards. those who drive-in create a huge mess and do all the damage. the infrastructure for drive-in visiting is wickedly destructive and ugly. parking lots. traffic jams. Burger Kings. hotels.

sorry, but at this point in earth's history it is us who represent the biggest risk to...anything.

it should cost a hundred bucks to take a car into a national park, and walking-in should be free and encouraged. trails, little windy paths in the dirt, are YES. highways, massive strips of blacktop and habitat destruction, are NO.

Dumb examples - those are akin to insurance, not to the usage fees.

What common good is served by poor people (who pay taxes) subsidizing relatively affluent people (who have free time and good cars to drive to national parks) entry tickets?

Nonsense. People who have free time, a good car and gas money to get there, can afford the tickets.

It looks like Trump lives in your head rent-free already. What in the world does this diatribe have to do with anything?
