That said, I have yet to make it out on any real dirt/trails and I wear a Shoei Neotec.
ADV bikes aren't always in dirt, how fast will your GSA go?! And you own a GSA which has never seen dirt? Shame.
Didley likes this.

I mean... it's seen dirt... they just haven't been acquainted yet. Give me a break I just moved my family of 6 from New Orleans here just over 6 months ago and only had the bike 4 months.

....I can probably use that excuse for at least 4 more months, right? Lol.

Well, OK, but it is going to be pretty slippery in 4 months!

Almost all of them have a full face shield and room for goggles so they are convertible. The short beak is kinda nice when the sun hits your shield, especially in the evening. I thnk some of them have a removable beak for long stretches of highway. The beak can catch wind and make your neck tired.

I own this helmet. The only complaint I have with it. Is the opening is tight getting over my ears. But once on it fits great. There is no issue with this helmet turning your head side to side at high speed. I like the use of the shield verses the Arai helmets. Much easier to take off and on.

To each his own, but as the likelihood of hitting my head on the ground increases so does how much I appreciate a good helmet.

Maybe $600+ seems spendy, but have you checked on the replacement cost of a new (or rebuilt) noggin?

Arai VX Pro4
Great fit and very well built.
Excellent for the forest roads and trails.
The beak does catch and knock your head around at speed.
I wear glasses and rip half of the foam out of my wet weather goggles to cut down on the fogging.

Well, I know my noggin cost me 54k in bills so I know it's worth at least that much!
I don't go on price for my helmet... I find the best helmet that suits my needs, find a decent price and go with it.
That said, I bought a Bell adv (love my Bells, especially the Star) last year to ride to Alaska, and it sucked. Maybe it was simply their cheapest model but there wasn't a nicer one available at the store. Anyways, it was definitely a BEAK and I was forced to take it off within a few hours due to the air flow and pain in the neck. Riding off-road I switched back to the beak/visor (the sun shading was nice) but it wasn't worth the effort switching back and forth and then finding a place to stash it in my luggage. Just switching between tinted face shields was enough to not want to switch between the beak as well.
I will go with the Shoei or another that has been wind tunnel tested in the future.

I have an LS2 and like it a lot. They are great if you have a long oval head. Also a fraction of the price of an Arai, very light and real fiberglass. Also the visor catches very little wind.

As far as adventure bikes go, they can be the best of both worlds.
